GARRETT COUNTY — Volunteers are a vital part of the Hospice of Garrett County organization.
“National Volunteer Week is April 7-13, so it’s nice during that time to highlight a little bit of what we do,” said Donna Brenneman, executive director. “We never charge the patients for anything, even if they don’t have insurance with a benefit for Hospice. We’re providing the medications at no charge and all the services. So we have to fund raise and we have to use volunteers. Our families need that support staff.”
Garrett County’s Hospice got its start in 1983 when home health nurse Pauline Faucett saw a need and got things moving. She still serves on the board of directors today.
