Once a bear ravaged a bag of garbage we unwittingly set outside a cabin before nightfall. We’ve seen several bears, including one swimming, while we fished from a boat. We once even made an evening trip to a dump to watch bears dine on garbage. One time, while fishing on a lake northeast of Eau Claire, we spotted a bear strolling around the homes and cottages one evening….
The next day, while we relaxed on the upper deck of our friends’ house on Deep Creek Lake, I spotted a bear roaming around the neighbor’s home. The bear strolled down to the water, took a brief, refreshing dip, and soon wandered off—but not before I again shot a few photos….
