The Oakland-Mtn. Lake Park Lions Club will host the annual Redneck Dayz on Saturday, June 14, at Broadford Recreational Park. The gates will open at 8 a.m. and the Redneck Regatta, featuring boats made of anything that floats, will start at noon. A cornhole tournament will start at 1 p.m., and the popular Mud Pit Belly Flop, a scene from last year shown above, will happen at approximately 3 p.m. There will be live music throughout the day, starting at 11 a.m. and running until midnight, according to organizer Bubba Marucci. The Lions Club will have a variety of adult beverages for sale, as well as soft drinks and water. (The club asks that guests not bring their own coolers.) There will be a “bounce house” for children, airbrush tattoos, crafts, jewelry, and other vendors. For a complete schedule and details, persons may go to redneckdayz.webs.com. Redneck Dayz Deemed Success
Jun. 28, 2012
Oh, so good for the skin – as well as a lot of laughs – was the mud pit that was “open to customers” at the recent annual Redneck Dayz festival at Broadford Park. The perfect weather, live music, games, lots of food, and attractions (such as the mud pit) drew “several thousand people” over the course of the two-day bash, according to organizer Mark “Bubba” Marucci of the Oakland/Mtn. Lake Park Lions Club.

The Oakland/Mtn. Lake Park Lions Club will hold its third annual Redneck Dayz event at Broadford Park on Saturday, June 18. The gates will open at 8 a.m. Admission is set at $4. Those under the age of 12 will be charged $1. A “custom, antique redneck car, truck, bike, and tractor show” will be held. There will be a $10 vehicle-entrance fee. Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 vehicles. The sign-up for the Anything Floats Regatta will begin at 9 a.m., an hour before the start of that event. All watercraft must be homemade (no boats, kayaks, inflatable rafts, etc.) and transport at least one person. Participants must provide and wear a life jacket. Trophies will be rewarded for: most redneck raft, best use of duct tape, best use of beverage containers, most unlikely to float, and crowd’s choice. Registration for the official Redneck Games will take place from 8 to 11 a.m., with the games starting at approximately 11:30 a.m. Four-person teams will compete for gold, silver, and primer-red medals. The winning team will win $387.69. The entrance fee for each team is $50. The mud-pit belly flop contest will begin at 2 p.m. There is a $10 fee to enter that event. Contestants will be judged and awarded prizes. The Redneck Concert Series will kick off at 4 p.m. with local artist Travis Minnick playing from 4 to 7 p.m. The Speakeasy Boys, a bluegrass/hillbilly band from Shepherdstown, W.Va., will play from 7 to 9 p.m. The Davisson Brothers will then take the stage and play until midnight. Food from the Kitzmiller Lions Club, the Oakland Rotary Club, and various other establishments and civic groups will be available. The Oakland Lions will be selling beer and wine coolers. Individuals are asked not to carry in alcoholic beverages. All proceeds from the event will go to local charities.

More on Redneck Dayz at Broadford Park
Redneck Dayz is a BLAST. You see all sorts of people there, you drink beer, listen to live music, play games, eat great food – it’s almost like Octoberfest meets the Garrett County Fair, but in June. And it’s all to support a great cause – the Mt Lake Park Lions club! Here are some photos of my daughter Kayleah last year in the mud pit belly flop contest:
